LaRandal Schwalenberg

This is to inform everyone of the passing of LaRandal (XX) Schwalenberg. Chief Schwalenberg passed away Thursday morning shortly before noon at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Chief Schwalenberg was a charter member of the Thorn Volunteer Fire Department and longtime member of the Mississippi Fire Fighter’s Association, Mississippi Fire Chief’s Association and the Mississippi Association of Public Fire Safety Educators. He and his wife, Carol, were both very active in fire prevention throughout the State and especially here in Chickasaw county.
Visitation will take place 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, January 25, 2008 at Southern Funeral Home located on North Jackson Street in Houston, MS. Chief Schwalenberg’s funeral will be Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the same location. Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery on Hwy. 341 north of Vardaman.

Code Symposium
The ICC in cooperation with the Alabama State Fire Marshal (Ed Paulk) and the Mississippi State Fire Marshal (Ricky Davis) will conduct a three day Code Seminar at the Mississippi State Fire Academy near Jackson Mississippi January 21 – 23, 2008. This seminar will be attended by the staff of both state fire marshals and would be a great opportunity for municipal and county fire marshals to meet, learn and develop professional relationships with their state counterparts.
